I am a photographer living in Scarborough. I shoot primarily with my phone and enjoy editing photos during my spare time. My photography journey began when I graduated from university and was looking for a creative outlet. During university, I was on the executive team of this amazing mental health awareness group where I was in charge of making marketing materials. My artwork is centered around exploring Toronto through my lens and raising awareness for various causes including mental health.
For over 35 years, Line 3 has been a vital part of every Scarborough commuter. When I heard that the TTC will be shutting down Line 3 permanently and replace it with the Scarborough Subway Extension, I knew I had to photograph it one last time. Midland Station has always been a part of my commute to downtown Toronto, whether it’s the distinctive Scarborough stench or its convenience of being able to go on an afterschool or after-work adventure. The enhanced motion blur in this photo represents how our lives have been a blur since the pandemic began, and that getting back to normal won’t be easy.
